Interplas Back on Top for British Plastics Industry.

Interplas-Higlights.png

Chester, 2nd October 2017. After three action-packed days at Interplas 2017, the UK’s largest and leading plastics industry event is being hailed as a resounding success by exhibitors who took part in the triennial showcase for the British plastics industry.

Almost 12,000 attendees (audit pending) visited the event at the NEC, Birmingham and they were provided with the opportunity to see a multitude of product launches and demonstrations from almost 500 exhibiting companies, more than 40 inspiring presentations across two conference stages and a host of exciting show features.

Interplas was opened on day one by Alison Gill, Current Master of the Horners Livery Company and Bruce Margetts Managing Director of Bericap, and the recently appointed President of the British Plastics Federation (BPF). Margetts said: "We are honoured to be asked to open Interplas 2017…the BPF has had a long association with Interplas ever since its origins. It is great to see the resurgence of this as the premier show in UK plastics.”

Feedback from exhibitors on the show floor was extremely positive, “Interplas 2017 was awesome,” said Graeme Herlihy, Managing Director of ENGEL UK. “Interplas feels like it's on top again and pretty much every major player in plastics is here. It's important to be seen here and it's important to have a great stand. I'm happy to say we have had a good show.”

Mike Jordan, Managing Director of Summit Systems, also commented: “Yesterday was absolutely full up from the beginning right to the end. Both existing customers and fringe customers. We have had three companies we have never heard of before.”

Carl Reeve, Managing Director of Data Plastics, added: “Interplas has been brilliant for us. I think now is a positive time for the industry. Having the show every three years is ideal because exhibitors make a real effort when the event comes around. Interplas 2017 is the best UK plastics show I've been to in 10 years and this is definitely the most positive show I've been to. The quality of leads has far exceeded what we expected.”

For the first time, the conference programme was delivered across two stages. The Main Stage, in association with British Plastics and Rubber Magazine hosted world-class presentations from Jaguar LandRover, Nissan, KPMG, P&G and the BPF, while Stäubli, Plastribution and NetComposites presented to full houses on the brand new Interplas Introducing Stage.

In addition to the conference programme, exciting features such as the Knowledge Pavilion gave attendees the chance to meet industry trade bodies, consultants and service providers to get expert advice on research and development, skills and education, regulation and materials selection, whilst Mediplas@Interplas and Inspex provided specific technology advice on medical and inspection issues. The new PlastikCity Pavilion presented 20 first time exhibitors to the audience further enhancing the opportunities on the show floor, and the Women in Plastics initiative returned with a hugely successful and well attended networking evening.

Duncan Wood, CEO of Rapid News Communications Group, owners of Interplas, commented: “We are delighted to be hearing such great feedback about the show. When we took over management of the show in 2011 our aims were to return Interplas to form, and I think we can safely say the 2017 edition has done this, we are delighted to be able to serve the British plastics industry with a world class platform from which it can project itself to the global market.”

“As organisers we pull it all together but Interplas is the success it has become because of the support the industry puts in, in particular our exhibitors who have invested in their stands and make it a show worth attending. Special thanks must go to British Plastics and Rubber, as well as the British Plastics Federation (BPF) and the PMMDA, three pillars in the continued growth of the UK plastics industry and in the growth of Interplas.

“We will continue to strive to be the perfect showcase for the British Plastics industry.  A celebration of the best of the sector, a gathering of the brightest people, best technology and most innovative developments, Roll on 2020!”

2017 TCT Show Hailed as Major Success by Visitors and Exhibitors

TCT-Show-Success.png

Chester, 2nd October 2017. The doors closed on the 2017 edition of TCT Show last week. This action-packed 3D technology showcase, held annually at the NEC, Birmingham, offered the opportunity for thousands of eager visitors to experience multiple product launches and demonstrations from almost three-hundred exhibiting companies on the show floor. More than fifty engaging presentations took place and a wealth of exciting show features educated and entertained in equal measure.

With a record-breaking expansion of the show floor presenting more exhibitors than ever before, this high octane event connected approximately 10,000 attendees (audit pending) from over forty countries with an exciting and varied range of businesses that stood ready to help them solve their challenges.

Feedback from visitors to the show was extremely positive. Shashi Jain, Innovation Manager, Intel Corporation said: "One of the great things about coming to TCT is not just seeing the exhibitors, but also meeting the people that are their customers. I’ve found that I learned something new every time I spoke to an attendee, which is remarkable. If you’re serious about 3D printing and you want to meet the people who are making it happen, then you must come to a TCT Show."

Pat Warner, Digital Manufacturing Manager, Renault Sport Racing F1 Team commented: "What a great show. Met some fantastic people, made contacts to help solve some problems, left with a huge shopping list!"

There was also a huge amount of positive feedback from exhibitors including Andy Middleton, President EMEA at Stratasys who said: “It’s clear TCT Show has moved up a level. I just spoke to a colleague and said ‘if I was a customer, I would be really confused. There are so many solutions which look and feel relevant for many many customers'. I think it’s one of the challenges for companies like ourselves – clarity in our messaging and explanation of what can be done, and what can’t be done, to help customers make an informed decision if they’re looking to invest in a solution.”

Dana McCallum, Head of Production Partners at Carbon added: "The 2017 TCT Show was a great success, and continues to be the largest additive manufacturing show in the U.K. where companies are able to meet key evangelists in the industry. TCT fosters a community who want to lead the world to do production with additive manufacturing, and we saw this take place last week in several vertical markets including consumer, automotive, industrial and medical."

The final word can be left to Edward Feng, President of Raise3D who said: "I would recommend anyone to exhibit with TCT. You guys helped us happen."

Start-ups from the UK, France, Germany, Spain and the USA also seized the opportunity to unveil their innovations to the 3D Printing market in the Start Up Zone – including a pitch session where the new companies competed for the coveted 2017 Start Up Award. The winner was FabRX, a start-up company looking to exploit the power of 3D printing for fabricating pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Alvaro Goyanes, co-founder and Director of FabRx was presented with a cheque for £3,000 alongside the winners trophy.

Jim Woodcock, Head of Content for TCT Group, judged the Start-Up pitches and explained: "This application immediately appealed to my own journey from the pharmaceutical world to 3D printing. FabRx's potential application development could open up entirely new therapeutic areas while also addressing challenges such as dosing and compliance."

TCT Show is well-known for offering first-class conference and seminar tracks and this year was no exception. The comprehensive programme, grown and developed for this year’s show, took place across three dedicated stages split into key themes. Over 1000 attendees benefitted from ground-breaking product launches, exciting demonstrations and enthralling presentations from a world-class speaker line up throughout the three-day show.

For the first time, the Main Stage gave visitors the opportunity to earn valuable CPD points while learning about research developments and real-life examples of the ways 3D technologies are used within a range of industries from Intel, McLaren Racing, Johnson & Johnson, Sabotage Design, DuPont and more.

Duncan Wood, CEO at Rapid News Publications Ltd, organisers of the TCT Show commented: “An amazing event with so many highlights, new products, new companies, world-class presentations, stunning applications and a surge of energy that sustained everyone across three days of business and networking. Add in the successful inaugural TCT Awards and I think we can reflect on a job well done for the industry. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of 3D technologies and we can certainly look back on last week as mission accomplished, for now. Whilst as organisers we have had superb feedback we recognise we can't do it without industry support so we thank all our exhibitors, speakers, sponsors and partners for their efforts; they make the show."

"We're already planning for something even bigger and better for next year with an expanded show floor and more features and we look forward to welcoming the industry again in 2018."

Inspex brand returns to the UK event scene for 2017 with a joint feature at Interplas and TCT Show

inspex-returns.jpg

Chester, August 18th 2017. Interplas 2017 is co-located with the UK's leading additive manufacturing event, TCT Show. Together, both exhibitions will be shining a spotlight on measuring, inspection and testing technology in a joint Inspex feature.

If you can't measure it, you can't make it. This is a universal truth for plastics processing, mould and tool-making as well as additive manufacturing and 3D printing. The return of Inspex to Interplas and TCT Show will serve to promote the importance of inspection and measurement technology in plastics processing and the new challenges an evolving industry faces as manufacturing technology evolves and pipes become bigger, films get thinner and industry standards get stricter.

All providers of inspection, measurement and testing hardware, software and services will be given enhanced visibility at both shows to make sure the valuable innovations they provide are unmissable across the halls. Headline media partner, British Plastics and Rubber magazine, will offer in-depth perspectives on this exciting and often unsung hero of plastics processing.

Visitors keen to expand their knowledge of the ways in which the latest and most sophisticated inspection, measurement and testing technology can benefit their business can attend the Inspex presentation track on the TCT Show Product Stage on Wednesday September 27th and on the brand new Interplas Introducing stage on Thursday September 28th, where experts from SolveTech, Impact Solutions, Micro Epsilon, Kistler Instruments, Q Labs and Smithers Rapra will be presenting their take on how best to tackle the inspection challenges of modern plastics processing, and how to future-proof.

Leanne Taylor, Interplas Conference Manager said; “Measurement, testing and inspection are integral to a production or manufacturing process, but it can often be difficult for visitors to identify the exhibitors that are offering expertise in these areas on a busy show floor. By clearly highlighting the stands that can supply the information, technology and services applicable to these critical fields, as well as running conference tracks in both shows to illustrate pertinent examples for business, we are providing yet more opportunities to benefit from a visit to the NEC in September.”

Inspex @ Interplas & TCT Show will feature on the main exhibition floor for the duration of these three-day events and visitors are encouraged to follow the branded floor markers to learn more about this fast-evolving technology from Inspex exhibitors.

Interplas 2017 will take place in Hall 4 of the NEC, Birmingham, UK, 26th-28th September. Registration is completely free, find out more at www.interplasuk.com
